India's largest airline, IndiGo, has achieved another significant milestone by launching daily direct flights between Kolkata and Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad. This new service makes it much easier for travelers to reach the Delhi-NCR region from Kolkata in the early morning hours.
Flight Schedule and Convenience
The newly introduced flight, numbered 6E 2588, will depart from Kolkata at 5:50 AM and arrive at Hindon Airport by 8:00 AM. For those returning to Kolkata, the flight from Hindon will take off at 8:50 AM, landing in Kolkata by 11:00 AM. The timing of this flight has been strategically planned to avoid early morning wake-up calls and late-night inconveniences, making it ideal for both business travelers and families.
IndiGo Strengthens Its Presence in NCR
To bolster its presence in the Delhi-NCR region, IndiGo has designated Hindon Airport as its second major hub, following Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. This move has made Hindon a crucial center for IndiGo operations in the NCR.
In addition to Kolkata, IndiGo has connected Hindon Airport with major cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Indore, Mumbai, Patna, and Varanasi. This means passengers can now enjoy direct flights to various destinations while avoiding the congestion at Delhi Airport.
Weekly Flight Operations
IndiGo plans to operate around 70 flights weekly from Hindon, providing travelers with the convenience of flying from a location closer to home.
UDAN Scheme Benefits Smaller Cities
Hindon Airport has been developed under the government's ambitious UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, aimed at connecting smaller towns and cities with major metropolitan areas to make air travel more accessible and affordable.
The new direct flight from Kolkata to Hindon will directly benefit millions in Ghaziabad, Noida, East and Central Delhi, and Western Uttar Pradesh, eliminating the need to travel to the busy Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Air India Express Joins the Service
IndiGo is not the only airline making Hindon Airport part of its strategy. Air India Express also commenced direct flights from Kolkata to Hindon on March 1 of this year.
Currently, Air India Express operates flights from Hindon to major cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, and Jammu, with approximately 40 flights weekly, enhancing connectivity options for travelers in the NCR.
